Perseverance and Success
Moguls' skier Jillian Vogtli moved from New York to Utah after college and got serious about competing... and winning. Within 100 days of graduating college, she won the NorAm title (1996). Since then she has competed in the Olympics and three World Championships. In 2004, Jillian enjoyed resurgence in her career, capturing the moguls' title at the U.S. Championships.
In 1998 Jillian was an alternate for the Olympic team in Nagano, Japan. Later that year she was involved in a finish-area accident in an exhibition dual moguls competition at season's end, injuring her right knee. After undergoing reconstruction of her ACL and meniscus, she refused to let go of her Olympic dream. With a mix of determination, "a great doctor," and an aggressive rehab program, she made it back in time not only to compete for the 2002 season but also clinch an Olympic spot with a podium finish in the final qualifying World Cup at Lake Placid - just several months after getting off crutches.
Jillian is an example of true grit and perseverance. In 2005 she claimed the United States' top mogul skier position and is on the road to compete in the 2006 Olympics in Torino, Italy.
In addition to her skiing, Jillian also designs and sells jewelry. Her retail web site is located at jewelrybyjillian.com . Jillian is also back in school pursuing her Doctorate in Natural Health. It is her hope to open her own practice to educate people on disease prevention and overall wellness. |
